Tablet time that is actually practice.

• No emails or passwords for children. A child types a first name, picks an animal, and is in — the room joins with one class code. Nothing for you to administer.
• Real practice, not a babysitter. Set a session cap per room or per child (10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes). When a child reaches it, the app says "done for today" and rests until tomorrow.
• Built for the littlest. A dedicated Pre-K mode, big answer buttons, questions read aloud automatically for Pre-K–2 (older grades tap to hear), and optional talk-to-answer, which a grown-up turns on, so pre-readers can say their answer.
• Runs on what you already own. Any tablet, Chromebook, phone, or computer with a browser — nothing to install, and practice keeps working when the WiFi drops.
• Private by design. No ads, no trackers and no data sales in the app. No child's full name is needed to use the app: the join screen asks for a first name, and that first name, grade, animal and progress are stored with your class. Writing Coach, where your plan includes it, sends a child's typed answer through our server to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) for scoring. The same check can flag an answer that seems to share private details or real-life distress; the child's words are then saved on that device, where anyone who passes the grown-ups gate can read every child's notes, so set a Family PIN. AcornSmarts does not store the answer; Anthropic deletes API data within 30 days under its published policy (longer only if its safety systems flag a request or the law requires). Talk-to-answer is off until a grown-up turns it on in Settings (that switch asks the grown-ups question or the family PIN); it uses the browser's own speech recognition, which in many browsers may send the audio to the browser maker (for example, Google). The app never records audio.

• A dashboard: who practiced, what they worked on, and where each child is ahead or behind — across all 87 Pre-K–8 skills (of our 104) and 26 hands-on activity types.
• Printables: a class poster with a scan-to-join code, per-child login cards, and progress reports you can hand to a parent at pickup.
• Assign a skill to the whole room or to one child; close enrollment once your group is in.
• Families who want the home edition can link to your room — no pressure, no extra step for you.

$59 per child per year

That is the same $59 a family pays for our Single Student plan — no center markup. You can pay per child: we invoice your center $59 for each child you enroll, for one year, and your room's class code opens every Pre-K–8 subject for those children through the end date (Writing Coach included, unless you ask us to switch it off for your room). Or take one flat yearly license instead, whatever your size — Classroom & Daycare, or Learning center (one license for every site and student) — quoted to your enrollment, as shown on our schools page. No multi-year commitment, and nothing renews unless you ask us to.

• You create a free teacher account at app.acornsmarts.com and a class for your room — you get an 8-character class code.
• Tape the class poster by the tablets. Children go to acornsmarts.com/join, type their first name and the code, pick their grade (Pre-K through 8th) and an animal.
• Set the room's session cap. Print login cards — each carries the child's own short code — so returning children spell their name the same way and pick up where they left off, even on a different device. Continuing as an existing child on a new device takes that code (or your one-tap approval), so no classmate can borrow a name.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) Pre-K–12 — content and interface; High School skill names and descriptions are in English.
